Extra heavy vacuum-processed grey cast iron with steel additive to permit high string tensions to be used. Why buy a baby grand?
The action or feel of a grand pianos keys is very different to a conventional upright piano. As the hammers are placed horizontally, they are able use gravity to return to their rested position. This promotes better repetition and response to the player's demands. It is a more efficient system of striking the strings and is far superior to the lever and fulcrum action used on an upright piano. This touch, response and feel are greatly appreciated by the musician.
The sound of a grand piano is also generally considered to be superior to that of an upright piano due to its longer strings and larger soundboard. The grand piano's bass in particular produces a full, resonant, sustaining sound that simply cannot be produced on most upright piano's. They also project this sound from "above" and "below" the cabinet, rather than using the facing wall like an upright. Put simply, they project in a way that is totally different to an upright piano, regardless of its size. It is like having surround sound when you perform, rather than the more direct sound of an upright.

What about tuning? Do I have to find a tuner?
No, you leave all that to us! We will arrange a complementary tuning after delivery with a local PTA approved (Piano Tuners Association) qualified tuner.
