the hudson 36 string autoharp (sometime known as a chord harp) is an easy to play instrument with a lasting and resonant tone. it offers a unique advantage for new players. the hudson's wooden body is nicely finished in sunburst and its comfortable shape can be played in a variety of positions to suit the individual player. it can be played acoustically and plugged into an amplifier for live performances or recording making this a very versatile instrument.
note: you don't need to plug it in to hear it! it sounds just like a normal autoharp when "un-plugged"

the hudson autoharp is a five sided wooden instrument with 36 strings wound on a double row of metal tuning pins (very much like a piano) each chord bar has a series of felts on the underside. when each bar is depressed the felts deaden all the strings (except those of the chord that you have selected) producing a lovely melodic sound!
there is a sound hole, just like a guitars, and it is conveniently fitted with rubber feet on the back as well as two strap buttons.
the hudson autoharp also allows the player to connect directly into an amplifier with a standard jack lead (not supplied) it is also equipped with tone and volume controls. it come complete with a deluxe padded carry case with handle, shoulder straps and accessory pocket .
as a result the hudson autoharp has the most gentle learning curve of any stringed instrument. with a little practise you can play real music in no time at all!

the autoharp is a variation of the german zither developed during the late 1800`s. it was one of a great number of "parlour" instruments which were devised so that people could make music in the home. relatively inexpensive with the advantage that untrained musicians are able to play simple tune or accompany singing with ease.
